Development Coordinator

The Opportunity
- Support the YCB Annual Campaign by coordinating and liaising with external partners, recruiting volunteers and leading fundraising activities.
- Work with staff and volunteers to plan, implement and coordinate activities of the annual campaign, such as supporting donor retention and recognition.
- Develop and sustain meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, YMCA staff and members.
- Plan, implement and evaluate special events.
- Provide assistance and support with the development of grant opportunities/applications, and when successful, monitor grant outcomes with Association staff, ensuring grant recognition deliverables are met, and reporting on impact to funders.
- Maintain the donor database to ensure financial accuracy, timely donor stewardship, and tracking deliverables as they relate to successful grants & contributions.
- Perform donor stewardship activities.
- Work with the administration team on donation processing & issuing charitable tax receipts to donors.
- Provide assistance and support with other fund development opportunities, where required.
- Work with the Director of Philanthropy & Marketing on monitoring event budgets.
- Work with finance team to ensure donation and event revenue accuracy.
- Research trends, best practices & learning opportunities with respect to fund development.
- Provide input on donation and fundraising revenue reports.
- Process donations through multiple systems.
- Other duties as directed.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, communications, public relations or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years related work experience in the non-profit/charitable sector.
- An understanding of fundraising campaigns & coordination of fundraising events.
- Experience with DonorPefect or any donor CRM system would be considered an asset.
- Strong relationship building skills to cultivate and maintain professional and responsive donor, prospect and community relationships with the ability to successfully engage with internal and external partners.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Superior organizational skills, flexibility, with a high degree of initiative and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a positive and effective manner, meeting critical deadlines.
- Experienced working independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail, takes initiative and enjoys people.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Exceptional communication (both oral and written) and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Experience with desktop publishing or Canva would be considered an asset.
- Clear criminal/vulnerable sector check and clear child abuse registry check mandatory
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation as travel in and around Cape Breton Island will be required
Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/ Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check. They will also be required to attend YMCA Child Safeguarding Training.
