Basketball 3×3 Program Leader

The Opportunity

The Basketball 3×3 Program Leader is responsible for supporting the planning, organization, and delivery of the YMCA 3×3 Basketball League. This includes coordinating participant registrations, organizing teams, preparing schedules, supervising games, ensuring fair play, promoting sportsmanship, and creating a positive athletic experience for youth participants. The Program Leader will work closely with YMCA staff, participants, and families to ensure a safe, inclusive, and well-organized program.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Coordinate and assist with participant registration and program administration.
• Organize teams and support player placement to ensure balanced competition.
• Develop and communicate league schedules, game times, and team assignments.
• Officiate and supervise league games for youth ages 12-18.
• Explain and enforce 3×3 basketball rules.
• Facilitate warm-ups and skill development activities as required.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
• Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, and respectful competition.
• Monitor participant conduct and address conflicts appropriately.
• Assist with scorekeeping and game timing.
• Communicate effectively with participants, families, volunteers, and YMCA staff.
• Support league setup and cleanup activities.
• Assist with championship week events and skills challenges.
• Act as a positive role model and mentor for youth participants.
• Provide feedback and recommendations for program improvement.

Skills and Qualifications

• Interest in youth sports and recreation.
• Knowledge of basketball fundamentals and rules.
• Experience coaching, refereeing, organizing leagues, or working with youth is
  considered an asset.
• Strong organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to engage, motivate, and build positive relationships with youth participants.
• Experience with scheduling, team organization, and program administration is
  considered an asset.
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification or willingness to obtain.
